This chapter introduces ergatomorphic males, mole crickets, and trophic eggs.

An ergatomorphic male is a wingless male ant with worker-like attributes. Also called ergatoids, they usually have larger heads and longer jaws, and ergatoids are more aggressive toward other males; in other words, they fight and kill each other for the purpose of mating with females. Unlike their winged counterparts, ergatoid males mate multiple times. Here's an interesting article about ergatoids.info

Mole cricketsphoto have shovel-like forelegs developed for burrowing.

Trophic eggsinfo are food eggs. In Myrmeca, trophic eggs are used as food and money so the more trophic eggs a female can produce, the wealthier her nest is.
