This chapter introduces ergatomorphic males, mole crickets, and trophic eggs. An ergatomorphic male is a wingless male ant with worker-like attributes. Also called ergatoids, they usually have larger heads and longer jaws, and ergatoids are more aggressive toward other males; in other words, they fight and kill each other for the purpose of mating with females.
